Where our matcha is from

Our matcha comes straight from Japan.

We source from different regions across the country, choosing each lot based on the season and the character of the harvest. Tea from southern regions can taste different from tea grown further north. Soil, climate, elevation, and farming style all quietly shape the final cup.

Some harvests lean deeper and more umami. Others feel brighter, softer, or more fresh. These differences aren’t flaws — they’re part of what makes tea alive.

Over time, we’ve learned what balance feels like to us. We continue to taste carefully and choose intentionally, looking for clarity, depth, and a kind of calm sweetness that lingers.

At the end of the day, it’s simply good tea from Japan. Nothing overcomplicated. Just selected with care and shared as it is.

Single Cultivar vs Blended

In Japan, blending is part of tradition. Many respected tea producers blend different cultivars to create harmony and consistency across seasons. It is not a lesser choice.

Single-cultivar matcha highlights the character of one specific tea variety. It can feel more distinct, sometimes more expressive, and occasionally more seasonal.

Both approaches are valid. Both require the same amount of care.

At the end of the day, what matters most is how the tea feels in the cup.

Brewing Guide

There isn’t only one way to prepare matcha. The way you brew it changes how you experience it.

Basic Latte (with milk)
⦿ Sift 3g of matcha into a bowl
⦿ Gradually add 40ml of water and whisk until smooth and velvety.

⦿ In a glass/cup, prepare 100ml of your choice of milk and slowly pour your whisked matcha

Koicha (thick tea)
⦿ Sift 4g of matcha into a bowl
⦿ Add 40 ml of hot water and whisk slowly until smooth and thick

Usucha (thin tea)
⦿ Sift 2g of matcha into a bowl.
⦿ Add 60ml of hot water and whisk briskly until lightly frothy

* Hot water not beyond 75-80℃

Adjust the ratio until it feels right to you.

How to properly store matcha

Matcha is best kept away from heat, light, air, odours, and humidity.

After opening, make sure the tin or container is sealed tightly. If possible, store matcha in a cool and dry place. Some people keep it in the refrigerator to help preserve freshness, but it should be brought back to room temperature before opening the container to avoid moisture.

Matcha is at its best when consumed while it is still vibrant and fresh. Over time, the color and aroma will naturally soften — this is very normal.

There is no need to rush, but matcha is something quiet and alive, so it is good to treat it gently.
